Applekings win their 5th of the Season on Minor Hockey Night
The Applekings improved to 5-2-1 on the season and moved into sole possession of 4th place in the OEHL after impressive win on Saturday night.

The Applekings faced off against the 2023 AA Champion, Tavistock Royals on Saturday, November 23rd for the Applekings annual Minor Hockey Night.

The 1st period was one of the worst the Applekings have played effort wise all year long. Every puck battle was lost, there was a ton of turnovers and as their coach said, "It was easier to count the stuff you guys [Applekings] did right than what you didn't do". The Applekings came out sluggish and looked as though they were going to get runover. Thankfully, Allan Menary came to play and kept the score close after 1, despite being outshot 19-4(!!). The Royals began the scoring 16 minutes into the 1st period on the power play on a goal by Trevor Sauder. They quickly scored again 16 seconds later on a goal by Jeremy Munro. The Applekings responded a few minutes later on a faceoff play and slick shot by Jamie Wise, his first of the season, assisted by Mackenzie Fleming and Noah Rowland.

The Applekings got the game tied at 2-2 3 minutes into the 2nd period on a great stretch pass by Kylar Watson to a streaking Neal Ross, who went backhand shelf for his first of the season, assisted by Watson and Noah Rowland. This period the Applekings outplayed the Royals with some extra fire under them, but it was the Royals who got on the board next on a goal from Andrew Van Boekel. Noah Rowland quickly answered to tie the game back up, his 3rd of the season, assisted by Austin Ulett and Derek Sweeney. Jacob Robitaille called his shot the next shift, telling the bench he was going to score before going out to finish a nice low shot on the breakaway for his 3rd of the season, assisted by Mackenzie Fleming and Noah Calvert-Goetz. Applekings outshot the Royals 15-9 this frame.

The 3rd period was a fun back to back game with the Royals tying the game up on a Trevor Sauder Power Play goal, his second of the game. The Applekings got the lead back on their own power play with 7:40 to go on another goal from Jacob Robitaille, his 4thof the year, 2nd of the game, assisted by Mackenzie Fleming and Neal Ross. The Royals began to pour it on the rest of the game but Menary stood tall in net, making numerous big saves before Mitchell Good got the monkey off his back with his 1st of the season on an empty net tally. assisted by Mackenzie Fleming and Austin Ulett. Final shots were 47-37 Royals.

The Williams Outdoors was Allan Menary, who finished his 5th Win of the Season with a 43 save performance. Noah Rowland (1G 2A), Jacob Roitaille (2G) and Mackenzie Fleming (4A) also had solid offensive performances for the Applekings.

The Applekings and Royals don't have to wait too long to faceoff again as they play this Saturday, November 30 when the Applekings go into Tavistock to try to keep hold of that 4th place position.

The Applekings welcomed a new skater in Kylar Watson who made his debut. They also welcomed back, Jamie Wise, who made his season debut and scored. Both Kylar and Jamie will have big impacts on this seasons success and are excited to have them both signed.

Thank you to Georgian Shores Minor Hockey, Collingwood Girls Hockey, Owen Sound Girls Hockey and Collingwood Minor Hockey for coming out to cheer on the Applekings!
